The Elefant and Ferdinand tank destroyers were monsters on the battlefield. Capable of knocking out tanks with such accuracy and ease, they truly were the designated marksmen of the Panzerwaffe.

But like most other German weapons, Eleferds were at the mercy of Soviet and American tanks (and airplanes) in superior numbers. In the top picture,  a Ferdinand and its crew are posing for a picture on their way to the greatest tank battle of all time- Kursk.

The bottom picture shows the outcome of the battle.
